House Quilt: A double take

November 12, 2015 Roderick Kiracofe

Pattern #7015 / House, c. 1950-75, origin unknown, cotton, 79" x 64.25", ex-collection of Charlotte Ekback, collection of Roderick Kiracofe

In September 2014, I had the pleasure of speaking with the Quilt Alliance at Quilters Take Manhattan. This was a special treat - to speak with others who love quilts while visiting New York, a favorite place of mine.

They have kindly posted a clip of my talk, where I discuss this House quilt that has the distinction of appearing in both Unconventional & Unexpected as well as The American Quilt. I love that this phenomenal quilt bridges together my two books, a stunning example of traditional quiltmaking meeting the improvisation and artistic experimentation.

Thank you for having me! I truly enjoyed my time in Manhattan and the memories this clip stirs up.
